When you live on a hilltop, you might wake up one morning to find yourself floating with your house on a sea of fog that has invaded the valley floor. It's the poetry of winter, and Antonia, like an inspired navigator, writes her 'travel' letters, sending them to her loved ones. I wanted the white in this painting to be an almost dazzling light, illuminating even the room where it hangs.
